Best brake pads for winter driving
Living in a rainy/cold area, my pads wear fast and lose bite when wet. Current ones are okay in summer but terrible below 5°C. Want something that grips well in slush and doesn't glaze over. Any solid recommendations for all-weather performance without spending premium money?
Winter conditions chew through pads quicker, especially if they're too hard. I switched to ceramic-based ones designed for mixed weather- they hold friction better when cold and wet without excessive wear. Recently got a set from this page https://elartcom.eu/categories/brake-pads-3 - they list pads by vehicle and have options like ceramic with copper-free formulas that resist fade in rain and snow. Installed them on my Skoda and noticed way better initial bite in the morning, plus almost no dust buildup even after salty roads. They last longer than my old semi-metallics too. Just match your model exactly and bed them gently first week. Good value if winter braking reliability matters to you.
